There was a time when singers used to be very traditional and cultural in terms of their dresses. Singers like Lata Di, Asha Bhosle, Hemlatha, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Anuradha Paudwal, Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghosal, these popular singers were seen only in sarees and kurta pyajamas. Then comes the invent of 90's pop culture which brought the influence of western glamour in the Indian music. I had never thought that I will be able to see singers like Palak Kapoor, Aakriti Kakkar and Kanika Kapoor's thighs but they made it possible. This is a demand of a time and a competition "Jo Dikhta Hai Wo Hi Bikta Hai". In today's youtube and Instagram world views is everything and to get views glamour is the key.
But India is not stopping here. Since 2024 and here after, Indian female singers are on the hoard of beating western singers. Mini skirts are nothing now a days.
